Thank you for your web page. I am an old friend of Marge and Randy's (I spent LOTS of time at their house as a child) and I am greatly saddened by Randy's death. He was my Knight in shining armor, the last of the truly suave and debonair gentlemen. He will be missed greatly. I'm just glad my 12 year old son and husband got to meet him a few years ago (I had moved from Boca to NC about 15 years ago, but they were the 1st and sometimes only people we visited on our bried journeys to spend time with my mom and dad, Alicia and Gene Krug, pastor of St. Paul, their church. I notice on your family tree that you list the children ofDaniel THACKER and Caroline RENDLESHAM. You also state that one of their children (Martha Mary THACKER was married to an unknown ANSDELL. The unknown ANSDELL was my wife's mother's father. Consequently I have some knowledge of their descendents and a little of the ANSDELL predecessors. Are you interested? George ANSDELL the unknown husband of Martha THACKER spent some time in Canada at the turn of the century working as a builder and then returned to Lowestoft to do the same.

apparently our decendent,george meriman,was sent as a convict to australia in 1811.the family eventually got into farming/grazing in the late 1800s and merryville merino stud was established in 1903 by my grandfather and we still continue today.cheers!

The best information that I have found is that the Merrimans' may have been Norman (scandinavian) who fought with William the Conquerer, and that is how we came to England. The oldest that my family could trace back our Merriman name is John Merriman d. 1804 in the midwest (perhaps Illinois).

In Kirkwall there is a church called St. Magnus which holds his remains. I am tracing my family tree from my mother, Edith Dawson Merriman, daughter of Edward Willam (b 1890) & Lilian Merriman (nee Ferguson) son of William (b abt 1858) and Agnes Merriman. My mother thought a cousin emigrated to Canada, her brother thinks poss Saskatoon?

Happy New Year - I believe our ancestors may have originated from the vikings (eg there are a number of Merriman's on the Orkney Islands North of Scotland!).
