Kournikakis 449 (1997)
It wasn't a world record, or anywhere close, but it was my best effort (pumpkin growing-wise) to date in 1997. One of my able pumpkin helpers, daughter Zoe (then age 4) , is seen here next to our pumpkin. The blue structure around the pumpkin and Zoe was a 5 foot x 5 foot shade structure that provided both shade and a broad dry area around the pumpkin. What can you do with a Giant Pumpkin? The graph below records the estimated weight of my pumpkin versus time. The weight is estimated using "over the top" measurements and tables developed by Len Stellpflug. You will note that although the actual weight was 449.8 pounds the final estimate was a bit low at 400 pounds. If you like this graph, you'll love to see what happened with the Andersen 977
