Halloween 2000

At my last report in August I mentioned that the pumpkin on my Lloyd 935 had stopped growing. And it did. I kept checking for a couple of weeks and there was very little growth so I stopped checking and just tried to ensure it stayed viable for Halloween.

Since the pumpkin had stopped growing at under 450 pounds I thought it wasn't much use to make the long (and expensive) trip to Smoky Lake so I never got around to actually weighing the pumpkin until a few days ago.

Much to my surprise the OTT suggested a weight of 465 pounds and it actually weighed in at 547 pounds, almost matching my personal best last year which was 553.5

Had I gone to Smoky Lake I would have won 2nd place! AUGH!!! Anyway, its still a great pumpkin for Halloween. I'm sure I'll never hear the end of this from my wife and Shellie Cramer among others. More photos are below.

This is my daughter Amy (almost 4) who enjoyed lounging around inside the pumpkin before I got to the main part of the carving.

The pumpkin was propped up against the front porch to expose a very nice face for the carving.

Zoe (right side, age 7) suggested a cat design, so we carved one out and the kids were very happy with it.

The pumpkin also attracted the interest of the local newspaper who published this photo on October 30th, but the got the weight wrong.

Happy Halloween to all, and maybe NEXT year I'll snag that elusive Alberta record (751 pounds).
